Tokyo Olympics: 13-Year-Old, SkyBrown Becomes Britain’s Youngest Olympic Medallist

  Sky Brown, 13, has won bronze medal, in the women’s skateboard event at the Ariake Urban Arena in Tokyo – making her Great Britain’s youngest Olympic medalist. After falling in her first two runs of the final, the teenager, nailed her last attempt with a score of 56.47 to finish behind Japanese pair Sakura Yosozumi, 19, and Kokona Hiraki, 12. Her achievement is more remarkable for the fractured skull and broken bones she suffered during a horrific fall in training last year. The Department of State Services, on Wednesday, the 4th of August 2021 brought all the 12 detained aides of Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho to the Federal High Court Abuja before Justice Obiora Egwuatu. The security agency had flouted the order as they failed to produce the detainees. At the July 29 proceedings when the DSS was expected to produce all the 12 detainees, the agency’s lawyer, I. Awo, told the court that it only had three detainees who were apprehended at Igboho’s home in Ibadan on July 1. Suspended Police Chief Deletes Facebook Post Claiming He ‘Assisted Hushpuppi To Buy N300,000 Clothes’ Amid Looming Extradition To US

Nigeria’s Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, has deleted his infamous Facebook update in which he responded to his indictment in the United States with claims that he only assisted serial internet fraudster, Ramon ‘Hushpuppi’ Abbas, to get N300,000 clothes. Kyari had taken to his Facebook hours in the wake of his indictment as announced by the U.S. Department of Justice on July 29, saying he barely knew Hushpuppi and imploring his supporters to disregard the allegations because he only helped the fraudster to get tailoring services. The post had subsequently elicited thousands of derisive comments and further nailed the police chief as other evidences he could not deny began to pour in. Kyari on Wednesday morning around 4am Nigerian time deleted the post, four hours after he had earlier edited it. There was no reason he gave, however, for deleting the obviously ridiculous post. Two TASUED Students Allegedly Die After Taking Sniper

Two students of Tai Solarin University of Education(TASUED) Ijagun in Ogun State   have died after they accidentally took a substance suspected to be sniper at a private hostel in Ijagun town on Sunday, August 1. The Nation reports that the lady, a 200 level student of the Library and Information Science department, TASUED, had gone to the male student’s room. However, when she did not return to her room, her friends became anxious and decided to check on her at the male’s hostel. EFCC Arrests Bukola Saraki Over Fraud Allegations

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has held a former President of the Nigerian Senate, Bukola Saraki, in its custody over allegations of theft and money laundering. Saraki was arrested on Saturday and was being interrogated at the Abuja office of the EFCC. “Yes, Saraki has been arrested. He is going to be released later tonight and ordered to return again tomorrow. He is being interrogated at the Abuja office,” an authoritative source told SaharaReporters. As Senate president between 2015 and 2019, Mr Saraki spent a considerable time facing allegations of corruption and false declaration of assets. He was acquitted by the Supreme Court in June 2018. However, in his new case with the EFCC, Saraki is to answer questions over alleged theft and laundering of public funds using a network of cronies and proxy companies. CBN Orders Banks To Create Mobile App For Forex Following Ban On Sales Of Forex To Bureau de Change Operators

  The Central Bank of Nigeria has directed Deposit Monetary Banks (DMBs) in Nigeria to create mobile applications and alert systems to update customers of their foreign exchange movement.   This comes after the CBN banned sales of forex to Bureau de Change operators and directed DMBs to establish teller points to fulfill legitimate forex requests from customers.     The new directive was contained in a circular signed by the Director, Banking Supervision Department, Haruna Mustafa with the reference number: BSD/DIR/PUB/LAB/14/082.     CBN also warned banks to ensure that no customer is turned back or refused foreign exchange provided that documentation and all other requirements are satisfied equally.   It also warned that undue delays, rationing and diversion of foreign exchange would not be tolerated, adding that banks must establish electronic applications and alert systems to update customers on status of their foreign exchange requests.   The circular reads: "Further to the

Unknown gunmen have kidnapped a popular nightclub owner identified as Tari Ajanami in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.  Ajanami, an indigene of Ayamasa town in the Ekeremor Local Government Area of the state, was abducted around 6pm on Wednesday at his building project site along Otiotio Road in the state capital.   Italian tennis star, Fabio Fognini has blamed the extreme heat in Tokyo for causing him to repeatedly use an anti-gay slur during an Olympic match.   Fognini, 34, was beaten 6-2, 3-6, 6-2, by Russian Olympic Committee player Daniil Medvedev in the third round on Wednesday, July 28.   During the match, the tennis star repeatedly berated himself as a "frocio," a derogatory term in Italian equivalent to English language homophobic slurs like "faggot" or "poof." 14-year-old minor, who was allegedly defiled by a Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju James, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has testified against him before the Lagos State Special Offences Court, Ikeja.
