APC Reveals PDP Chiefs Behind Amaechi's Bribery Scandal

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused four chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of being responsible for the bribery allegations against the minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.

Justices Sylvester Ngwuta and John Inyang Okoro, two out of the seven judges arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) for alleged corruption, had blamed their travails on Amaechi.

They accused him accused of trying to bribe them into.........
giving judgments that were favourable to the APC governorship candidates. A statement by the chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the party, Chief Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, alleged that the PDP cabals were the ones who advised the justices to drag Amaechi into their arrest and investigation by the DSS.

The four PDP chieftains accused are;

1. Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state

2. Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state

3. Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom state

 4. Senator Godswill Akpabio

The statement read: “These big four PDP politicians are said to be the biggest spenders who allegedly induced and bribed the Supreme Court justices with hefty sums of money to get favourable judgments. “They are said to be the major sources of the money, wealth and properties that have been traced by the DSS to Justices Okoro and Ngwuta.

“These PDP bigwigs are said to have advised the justices to drag Amaechi into their arrest and investigation by the DSS. They believe doing so would muddle the waters, divert the media and public attention from the corruption allegations against them and make the whole arrest and investigations look like a political vendetta against the justices. “Our findings indicate that they told the justices that the Buhari government is after them, wants to bring them down, and that they must drag Amaechi down as well.”

The APC alleged that the PDP chieftains deceived the justices to believe that Amaechi orchestrated their arrest and investigation. The party claimed that Wike, Akpabio, Udom and Okowa are scared of Amaechi, and his closeness to President Muhammadu Buhari which is why they want to damage and destroy him politically.

 Amaechi’s bribery scandal sparked up controversy as many Nigerians wondered why the president was still keeping him in his cabinet. The Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere,demanded for the immediate resignation of Amaechi.

The group asked Buhari to sack all those that have been indicted of corruption in his government. The minister has since denied the allegations against him, saying the judge concocted the claim in order to politicize the issue of his arrest.
