DG Dumps PDP For APC

IMMEDIATE past Director General of the National Sports Commission, NSC, Gbenga Elegbeleye, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the All Progressives Congress, APC with hundreds of his supporters in Ondo North Senatorial District.

Elegbeleye, a former member of House of Representatives, said that......
“the PDP has now been occupied by ‘army of occupants making it difficult for it to play its role as mainstream opposition party effectively.

The former governorship aspirant in PDP pointed out that he has “buried his political ambition in order to support the APC Candidate, Mr.  Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.” He noted that among the candidates of major political parties in the state Akeredolu is the best having served as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of the State in 1992 and as a former President of Nigerian Bar Association, NBA.

Noting that Akeredolu had promised the people of his constituency – Ikare-Akoko in Akoko Northeast Local Government the dualisation of the township roads, if elected, he regretted that incumbent government “has not done much for the people of his constituency for the over seven and half years since Governor Olusegun Mimiko came into office.

Virtually all the roads in Akoko are in a state of disrepair while the Ondo North Senatorial District does not have a Mother and Child Hospital and infrastructures like other zones of the state.

The crisis in the PDP both at the National and State levels would make it difficult for it to make appreciable impact in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.’’
