Man, 47, Jailed For 36 Months

A 47-year-old man, Nnamdi Adinaze, has been sentenced to three years imprisonment by a Lagos Federal High Court, after finding him guilty of illegally dealing in Cannabis sativa, popularly called marijuana.

, jailed the convict on Friday after the National Drugs Laws and Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, prosecutor, Mr. Jeremiah Aernan, had presented the fact of the one-count charge of unlawful dealing in narcotics preferred against the convict to the court. 

Aernan, while reviewing the fact of the charge, told the court that Adinaze was arrested on August 2 at Abattoir area of Agege, with 1.8 kilogrammes of weed suspected to be marijuana.

He also informed the court that upon conducting test analysis on the suspected weeds, it tested positive to be banned Cannabis sativa. 

During the review of the fact of the charge, the prosecutor tendered the seized weed and the convict’s statement, certificate of test analysis, and other documents, which were admitted by the court as exhibits. The convict had pleaded guilty to a one-count charge of unlawful dealing in banned weeds.
