Four officials of the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) have been arrested over attempt to export 144kg of ephedrine to Maputo, Mozambique.

The officials included the Chief Security Supervisor of NAHCO.

The spokesman of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mr. Micthel Ofoyeju, said the drug was ..........
concealed inside noodles and packed in three brown cartons with relaxers and cereals

He said that the prompt intervention of NDLEA officers at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) Abuja aborted the plot.

Ofoyeju said one of the suspects, Victor Ahenje, a load controller, who is linked with the conspiracy is on the run and has been declared wanted. He said that the plot was to smuggle the drugs out of the country in an Ethiopian Airlines’ flight.

The NDLEA Commander at the Abuja Airport, Mr. Hamisu Lawan, said some officials at the cargo section were invited for questioning and four NAHCO workers were detained. “Those being interrogated in respect of the seized drug include the Chief Security Supervisor, Mr. Audu Garba, two security officers, Nasiru Ibrahim and Haruna Abdullahi as well as a driver, Adamu Dasura.
