Starbucks in Japan are now adding actual real life cake to the drinks.
Basically, it’s like a slightly toned down freak-shake.
There are two cake-based drinks that you can get your hands on.
The American Cherry Pie Frappuccino which includes a bottom and top layer of cherry compote, a vanilla Frappuccino base studded with bite-sized pie pieces, whipped cream, and the pie crust domed top, of course.
If you’re not feeling the cherry pie vibes then you could go for a matcha drink, which comes with almonds blended into the drink and is topped with a chocolate cake disk, matcha green tea sauce, whipped cream, and green tea powder.
The idea, apparently, is that you use the straw to break up the cake into the drink, and then enjoy them together, but we’re sure there’d be no judgement if you wanted to have a cake starter and a Frap main-course.
Starbucks hasn’t made these drinks available in the UK just yet, but if you feel strongly that you want one you can either get a flight to Japan (extreme, but we’d respect it) or politely request it here.
