Tensions are said to be mounting at Sowutuom in Accra, Ghana, following reports that a Nigerian man identified as Peter Thompson, stabbed a 27-year-old Ghanaian, Misbau Amadu, to death for allegedly stealing his phone.
Following the development, some policemen were deployed to the area as some irate Ghanaians threatened to mount a retaliatory attack against all other Nigerian nationals in the region.
Confirming this development to Citi FM in Accra, the deputy regional Public Relations Officer (PRO) of police, Inspector Kwabena Danso, revealed that measures were being put in place to avert any possible reprisal attack.
Meanwhile, Thompson is believed to have been arrested as investigations into this development begins.
However, it was discovered that following the arrest of Thompson, some Ghanaians went ahead with the planned attack which has reportedly led to the killing of about 5 Nigerians.
