Obaseki who contested on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defeated the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Osagie Ize-Iyamu, and other candidates in the poll. Obaseki reacts as INEC declares him winner of Edo governorship election.



In his reaction, Obaseki said words failed in commending his supporters, saying their collective will made the "triumph over godfatherism" possible, apparently referring to the former national chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole.





"Words fail me in saluting our teeming supporters who displayed immense courage in the face of threats, intimidation and brutalization. The collective will of Edo people made it possible for us this triumph over godfatherism. Congratulations to all Edo people. This is our victory!" he tweeted.
